HoLyDaYs

I just LOVE the holidays!!!
We've spent the last week with my parents in Bixby, OK where we had our first White Christmas! 8 inches of fantastic white powder... what a great way to spend Christmas day. Becca and Lucas brought their two doggies and they quickly became our reindeer as we sat on an old snowboard. So much fun!
Snowy weather is wonderful...but only as long as you're NOT DRIVING.
We went skiing with Chris' family and the Vanaman's before Christmas this year, and when we heard about the winter storm warning, decided to take off for Tulsa the evening of the 22nd (to beat the weather). This resulted in the longest most nerve-racking 12 hours of my life! AND WE DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT ALL THE WAY THERE! At 6am on the 23rd we were still 5 hours from our destination, but just had to call it quits and sleep for a bit. (4 hours to be exact) Then we made it the rest of the way and had a lovely time (and caught up on some sleep).
I don't think either of us is to eager to visit Kansas anytime soon.
We're now back in the Dallas/Fort Worth for Christmas with the Lee's and to bring in the New Year! It has been really neat for me and Chris to celebrate with each other's families this year! Love it!

I'ts beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Gracious! I'm doing a very poor job keeping up with this thing... whoopsies!
Well, Thanksgiving was fantastic... delicious food, hanging out with the fams, brunching
with friends, and SUPER PROUDIES for me and sister Sara running the 8 mile in the Dallas Turkey Trot. woohoo! We were impressed with ourselves :) and we had a blast.
Interview season is still in full swing. Chris has been traveling around to different
schools and is pretty much just showing everyone how awesome he is. :)
I'm so proud of him and so thankful for all his hard work!
Since Thanksgiving we've also pretty much unpacked every last box! Hip-Hip-Horray!
Let me show you around...

our festive ACU christmas tree...it's wee and precious!

this is the loo... in the mirror you can see the little laundry room on the side

the bedroom... :)

Christopher's "office"/ the place the desk fit best

the Dallas post

wow! so, it's been a while...whoopsie. :)
we area back in Dallas/Fort Worth livin' it up at the parental's casa.
Chris has been staying very busy with a rotation at southwestern, and I've been back at my Starbucks store! I missed it! :) Other than that we've been preparing for the move to Amarillo... so excited to be in our own very first apartment... but i will admit i'm already a little stressed about all the stuff we have. i've been slowly purging my closet and throwing out or giving away anything i haven't used in a while. it's kinda refreshing!
The reason for the dry spell of posts is due to the wonderful friends and family we have here and get to hang out with all the time! So far this month we've been to joe-t's twice (gotta give a quick shout out to Guac-Boob-Tiffany-Gaunt!), dressed up as the Princess and the "P" for Halloween (it was a mistake to eat a huge mexican meal before putting on my wedding dress again), watched a lot of fabulous football, eaten with the Whaley's, the Vanaman's, and of course the Lee's, celebrated Shelbi's birthday with dinner at the Melting Pot and a sleepover, drinks with friends at Reata..... and much more.
Goodness gracious, we just love being here!
Moving day is scheduled for the weekend of the 21st! we'll have a few days to attempt at settling in and then it's back to Dallas for Thanksgiving day festivities!
anybody else ready for cold weather, fireplaces, christmas carols and peace on earth!?! :)

BerfDay

it's my HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! this morning my chris lee woke me up (VERY early mind you!) to kisses, a sleepy happy birthday song and PRESENTS!! :)
he pulled out this awesome robot gift bag that had a decoder and secret message to read on it!!! haha! the first thing i pulled out was the most delightfully, delicious kind of chocolate ever created...Toblerone Dark Chocolate. mmMMMmm! next, were some of those disposable face masks (like what you use when you sand or paint stuff). i was really confused by this till chris explained that it's for when he's gassy... oh JOY!! (there's definitely a story here...take us out to dinner and we'll share it). the last gift i pulled out of the bag was.... HOUSE SHOES!!! (we have reached the pinnacle of marital bliss folks!) haha! seriously though, they're not just any house shoes... they're delightfully cozy, rub on your face, chocolate brown and baby blue UGG house shoes! oh my! :) christopher actually has the male counterpart to these shoes and i wore his so often (cause my feet are perpetually cold) that he got me my own pair. what a sweet hubby!
birthday's are just the greatest! i've had so many phone calls and facebook messages... i wish every day could be like this :) there's sure to be more later, but that's all for now. -xo

Oh, Happy Day!

so, chris and i are sitting in a Panera at the Green Hills mall. we chose this locale bc they have free wifi and neither of us have spent much quality time with our laptops and we were starting to go through withdrawals. it's three in the afternoon but the ski is grey and the day is dreary and cold so i'm pretending it's still morning. they wouldn't let me order from the breakfast menu so i had a delicious carrot-walnut muffin, a parfait and some coffee.
christopher is busy updating his iPhone, messing with his email and writing thank you notes to the docs that wrote letters of recommendation for his CV...funny, i couldn't get a single thank you note out of him for all our wedding gifts... hmmm...*suspicious eyes* :)
i got to spend the day with kaitlyn thames yesterday! we started off in high-style at the Puffy Muffin, a very Tennessee-ish cafe/tea room for the well-off-stay-at-home-mom's to congregate when they're trying to avoid the gym or the day's errands... or at least that's what i've heard. :)
it was really cute and delicious... although we did miss out on the breakfast menu (i have an insatiable lust for breakfast foods at any time of the day). after brunch (heavy on the "UNCH" as kaitlyn would say) we went to the most densly populated venetian nail salon either of us had ever been and had our toe nails beautified for my birthday present! under kaitlyn's skilled influence, i chose a dark, dark purple (something i've never done before) and it looks awesome!
watching Fame was the next thing on our agenda.... pretty much the most awesome move i've seen in a while! i'm so all about movies where people spontaneously burst into song and dance and everyone around them joins in... i'm pretty sure that's what heaven will be like.
we met up with the boys for dinner (prepared by chef josh thames himself), arrested development, and rock band sessions! what a great day.

We HEART Nashville

so, we've been here just over a full week. chris is well into all his hospital business... working long days and learning a ton. i've kept myself busy sleeping in late, having tea and breakfast on the back porch swing, picking up shifts at starbucks, and exploring the city.
we love it here! ...it's been so perfectly fall since we came to town with cool crisp days (i had to purchase a few stylish scarves, of course), we have wonderful friends to hang out with, our host family is absolutely wonderful, and there's just so much liveliness about the city in general.
my favorite is the weekends... (cause chris doesn't work!) with all the food we eat, and football watchin', antiquing, and running in the park, i feel like i'm part of a movie or wonderful book. :)
which by the way, i'm reading julie & julia. i went to see the movie last week and kaitlyn t. has lent me her copy and i've really enjoyed it!

ps- birthday countdown: 8days!

the FaBuLouS "FiSHBoWL"

so, we're nearing the end of our Oklahoman times but i wanted to post a HUGEMONGOUS thank you to the Emily and David Taylor and the Wedel Family for housing us over the past weeks. we got to spend the first week in Em and David's (and little baby Taylor's) cute new home in The Village... it is precious and they're really transforming it with beautiful paint and new furniture! the last three weeks we've been living with a family that goes to church with Candice Wood and her super witty and awesome bf, Richard. the Wedel's are such a wonderful family... just incredibly open, warm and genuine... and have let us live in their back yard cabana. they call it the "fishbowl" cause it's pretty much floor to ceiling windows, but with the spectacular scenery and awesome weather we've had here i wouldn't want it any other way! they been such a wonderful example of generosity...it's just unbelievable. Chris and I can't wait till we can do this kind of thing for other people!

hangin' out in Bricktown. dinner at Zio's and drinks at Drinkz!
goofiness. love these peoples! ps-i cut my hair off! :)
Pride and Prejudice-ish... so of course i love it.
fantastic kitchen, tv and fooseball!! :)
it's been in the 50's so i decided a nice fire would be lovely
yes, i most definitely played christmas music all day this day.
chris wasn't home. :)

next stop... Nashville, TN!!
